Rustic Urban Retreat

This family garden in the heart of Stepney Green in east London was a real gem: overgrown with outsided cherry laurels, we cleared the site and built a generous patio, to seat 10, finished in beautifully rich-toned herrigbone brick pavers. We included a dinky lawn - space enough for two to lie in the sun, edged with rich seasonal planting. For screening we included flowering cherries along the bounadry and the centre-piece was a traditional steel arch pergola over the entire dining space which allows trusses of flowers to bob gently above providing fragrance and shade for the family as they dine.
